The northern Black Sea coast stretches from Varna, the summer capital of Bulgaria, along the kilometers-long beaches of the summer resorts Albena and Golden Sands, right up to the coasts of Cape Kaliakra and the national reserves around the lakes at Durankulak and Shabla.
Over the years this part of the Bulgarian Black Sea coast has preserved its authenticity and natural loveliness. The favourable weather conditions (summer temperatures 25-30ºC and sea water temperature 25ºC from May until October), the natural mineral water springs, the fascinating views over the waters of the Black Sea, the crystal-clear air and untrodden nature are only part of what attracts more and more investments and international interest in the region. Over the last few years, the region has become even more popular as a golf tourism centre in Bulgaria.
6 km north of Topola Skies is one of the most ancient towns, Kavarna, and the legendary Cape Kaliakra. Kaliakra is a narrow and rocky cape which cuts into the Black Sea for 2 km.
The cape has been compared to a burning sword cutting the seas waters in two and its sheer slopes make it inaccessible and majestic. Because of its beauty, this area is called Kaliakra, which literally means “beautiful cape“.The increasing amount of foreign investment makes Kavarna one of the fastest growing coastal towns in Bulgaria.
15 minutes south, in the direction of Varna, is Balchik, commonly referred to as “the white town,“ where you will also find the biggest botanical garden on the Balkan peninsula. The gardens form part of the grounds of a Palace built at the beginning of the century as a summer residence for the Romanian Queen Maria. The region is exceptionally picturesque – rocky coasts and small bays covered with golden-white sand, divide the fertile Dobrudzha plain from the calm water of the Black Sea. Its beautiful nature, historical heritage, incredible seascapes and natural mineral water springs are pre-requisites for the development of eco and spa tourism. Over the last few years, the construction of a modern yacht harbor has begun, which will forever change the appearance of the formerly small fishermen's town.
54 km south of Topola Skies is Varna, the pearl of the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast. Varna is probably the most cosmopolitan Bulgarian city and it is definitely the biggest tourist center in Bulgaria. The city is among the fastest growing cities and towns in the country, and is an important economic, tourist, and cultural centre. Varna International Airport provides connections to every corner of the world. In the streets of Varna you will find both traditional Bulgarian restaurants and those offering all kinds of European cuisine, as well as many cafes and gambling halls, shopping centres and famous trade-mark and designer shops. Places of interest include the Sea Garden, which stretches for 8km along the Black Sea Coast, the Museum of Archeology exhibiting the oldest golden treasure in the world, as well as many precious items from all periods of Bulgarian history, the War Museum, the Aquarium, the Zoo and the Dolphinarium. Of great historical importance are the Cathedral of The Assumption dating back to 19th century, the Church of St. Atanas and the Roman Baths that were built in the 2nd century.
