About Bulgaria

According to legend: "When God was creating the world He gave away land to every nation but He forgot the Bulgarians.  So they went to Him and asked Him to give them land as well and because there was nothing else left, He presented them with a piece of Heaven."

The Republic of Bulgaria is situated in South-Eastern Europe and more precisely, in the Eastern part of the Balkan peninsula. To the north Bulgaria is bordered by Romania, to the west it shares common borders with Serbia and Macedonia, and to the south, with Greece and Turkey. Golden sand covers Bulgaria's eastern border on the Black Sea coast.

Bugaria has been on an important crossroads since ancient times and thus its history, culture and traditions have been greatly influenced by others due to its location: the Thracians, who were the first to settle here, left their incredible tombs (in Kazanlak and Sveshtari) and their sparkling golden treasure; the Ancient Greeks were the founders of the beautiful coastal towns of Varna, Nessebar and Sozopol, whose ancient names were respectively Odessos, Messembria and Apolonia; the Romans built roads and fortresses, and all of this happened by the year of 681, when Khan Asparuh's Bulgarians came and founded a state of their own called Bulgaria.
The climate in Bulgaria is moderately continental, with a slight Mediterranean influence mostly in the outlying southern parts and the Black Sea coast. Bulgaria has four distinct seasons – spring, summer, autumn and winter. The four seasons are very distinct in the inner parts of the country, whereas on the Black Sea coast the winters are mild and snowfall is rare, the summers are breezy and the temperatures are quite agreeable.

Bulgaria's nature is one of the greatest treasures of the country – high mountains, covered with thick forests and crystal-clear lakes, flat and fertile valleys, mineral water springs and endless beaches on the Black Sea coast covered with golden sand. Coupled with the distinctive culture that has been preserved to date, strong foundations were firmly laid in Bulgaria for the ongoing development of sea, mountain, Spa and alternative tourism.

More and more foreigners – English, Irish, Russian, Scandinavian and Spanish tourists, choose Bulgaria as their destination of choice, mostly because of the country's favourable climate, beautiful nature, cheap prices and unlimited opportunities for tourism!
Since 1997 Bulgaria has been developing at a rapid pace. The course taken towards EU membership has led to increasing interest from foreign investors and on 1 January 2007 Bulgaria finally joined the EU, making it a current hotspot for property investment.
